Hobsons Craft Beer Cans product packaging design
When Hobson's brewery decided to launch their first ever range of canned craft beers, we were able to help with every step of the product packaging design.
As the brewery are best recognised for their ‘Coke’ hat; hats were the inspiration for this new, exciting craft range.
From the Hatsoff hashtag to the illustrations on the cans, we ensured the branding was instantly recognisable and enticing.

Concept design
The concept for a range of ales to appeal to a young, unisex demographic meant exploring many options.
We began with a spectrum of colours as suggestions for what the brewery might consider most eye-catching on the shelves.

The Skimmer
The palest of the craft beer range, "A light, fruity and easy to drink Pale Ale with a balanced, refreshing, hoppy finish"
A Straw Boater was chosen to depict this ale, representing a sessionable, light beer, which bridges the gap between ale and lager, perfect for a long day on the river.
The pale blue can also reflects the light, relaxed feel of this drink.

The Explorer
The heritage of the pith helmet worn in India in the 1800s was a great source of inspiration for an India Pale Ale.
"The Explorer is a punchy, fruity IPA with a traditionally high ABV and hop content.
Balanced bitterness from the Challenger hops and citrusy, tropical fruit notes take you on a journey of discovery."
The Pith Helmet was chosen to represent this ale which comes in an orange can.

The Stove Pipe
For a stout with the traditional foam on the top, a top hat was a clear choice for this ale.
"A dark, smooth Stout with a robust, roasted barley flavour. Hints of blackcurrant, coffee spice and liquorice from the Columbus hops give The Stove Pipe a contemporary twist."
The dark purple can was a reflection of the contemporary twist on the traditional.

Social Media Hashtag
When it comes to social media, it is so important to make your mark, and to be instantly recognisable.
With research showing consumers are developing a shorter attention span, for this brand, creating a recognisable hashtag was a vital way to get the audience talking and raise awareness of the launch.

In Store Marketing
Poster and Shelf-talkers
With in-store marketing to be supplied to all resellers, providing posters and branding for the store adds interest.
Using this additional brand recognition for high impact, being creative rather than informative, posters and shelf-talkers designed to ensure customers are called to act.
