Branding, logo development
packaging & textile design for Albion Saddlemakers
A phased re-design of an established (but dated) corporate logo, with a thorough refresh of the brand identity to align better with its market-leading products.
Albion Saddlemakers are based in Central England, selling to a global market.
The Design Frontier have worked closely with Albion England to modernise and develop their brand across a wide range of marketing and product applications.
The Brief
Albion Saddlemakers asked us to develop a new, modern brand guideline based on elements of the original, classic Albion branding. This includes a clean, high end logo, packaging, metal hardware for handbags and even textile design.
The Background
For over 30 years Albion Saddlemakers have been renowned for their world class, handmade saddles and equestrian accessories. Their infamous 'Revelation' Saddles and 'Original KB Pressure Bridle' are synonymous with champions and riders at their peak.
Albion Saddlemakers have earned their status as a world-renowned, high-end brand.
However, they now needed a boutique-style brand that aligned with a new design-aware generation.

Coverage Ratio
Colour proportion is as important to maintaining visual continuity of a brand as the colourway itself. As with any brand guide, the designer needs to interpret them to some degree.

Font Usage

Positive and Reverse Usage
The scale and position will differ when applied to products made from different materials and which perform different tasks. The simplicity of the Albion logos has enabled them to be reproduced across a wide range of materials including;
+ Ink on paper
+ Dye-sublimation on fabric and plastics
+ Foil Blocking
+ Debossing in paper and leather
+ Laser etching
+ Rubber
+ Embroidery
+ Profile cut acrylic
+ Nickel and acrylic badges
+ Metal extrusion

Repeat Pattern
The corporate logo and a mono version of the Script 'A' Pin are combined to form a repeat pattern. The logos are rotated by 180° on consecutive rows so they can can be read at multiple angles. Therefore, it is especially helpful when applied to tissue for packaging or fabric lining inside handbags or wallets.
